Letang Relieved His Penalty Wasn’t Costly (PHN+)

You could almost hear the reaction stretching all the way back to Pittsburgh when Penguins defenseman Kris Letang took an ill-timed, ill-advised penalty Tuesday night at New Jersey.
The Penguins were hanging on to a 2-1 lead and went on the penalty kill when Letang got called for a slashing penalty that gave New Jersey a five-on-three for 1:42. The penalty seemed to stem from Letang not being able to contain his frustration.
Letang addressed it briefly Wednesday after the Penguins practiced in Columbus.
