We’ve reached an unexpected point in the season when the clock is about to strike midnight but there are several Cinderellas at the ball. The Columbus Blue Jackets have been tough for several years but a little brother to the Metro Division powers. So, they had meetings. Just like the Pittsburgh Penguins, trade rumors are beginning in Winnipeg, too. And rumors boiled about the next Edmonton Oilers GM.

Oh, and there was hockey last night, too. Perhaps the St. Louis Blues will finally win a Stanley Cup? The notes won again (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

But David Perron isn’t a happy camper with being shuffled around the lineup, said so publicly and threw some shade at Ken Hitchcock (St. Louis Today)

News exploded in Alberta yesterday. It was reported Ken Holland would be the next GM of the Oilers. Then it wasn’t. Rumors are flying (Edmonton Journal)

While we’re on the subject of GMs, here is Penguins GM Jim Rutherford’s final report card for the 2018-19 season. The final grade differs greatly from the offseason/first-half grade (Pittsburgh Hockey Now)

Winnipeg is another of the heavy favorites to bite the dust in Round One. Changes are coming, but how severe will they be? Jacob Trouba’s name seems to be the most prominent (Winnipeg Free Press)

There is also growing steam in the Toronto papers for the Maple Leafs to blow things up. There are a lot of fingers being pointed in different directions (Sportsnet)

The Columbus Blue Jackets aren’t even supposed to be here today. The Clerks of the NHL playoffs are a bag of free agents who have been rumored to be in every NHL city, except Columbus. A long time ago, they stopped worrying about their future and even started laughing at the media. I know you’ll enjoy that part (ESPN)
