PHN Penguins Live Postgame; DeSmith Strong, Pens Lose Script in Carolina, 3-2 (OT)

The PHN Pittsburgh Penguins postgame show and chat. Join PHN Editor-in-Chief Dan Kingerski after the Penguins game against the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena. The Penguins survived a late penalty in regulation but couldn’t kill one in OT as Carolina beat the Penguins 3-2 in OT at PNC Arena.

Dan goes the two things the Penguins stopped doing that allowed Carolina back into the game.

The Penguins earned a 2-0 lead after a great first period, and goals by Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby. However, they hung by a thread in the second period. Carolina thoroughly dominated the middle period and outshot the Penguins 14-8, and outchanced them 8-2.

Penguins backup goalie Casey DeSmith was very good, especially in the second period. He made several difficult saves to maintain the Penguins lead. Danton Heinen led all players with five shots through two periods, including four scoring chances.

Dan will break down the game including the Penguins’ second-period collapse, DeSmith, the Metro Division, and what we could see at the NHL trade deadline. Dan will also circle one player that hockey circles are chattering the Penguins could be pursuing.

And, of course, we’ll talk about the Kris Letang penalty in OT which cost the Pittsburgh Penguins the game. Was it fair?

Have a watch, join in. The show begins at 10:40 p.m. Where else would you rather be?
