PHN EXTRA: Matt Murray, ‘I’m Just Being Honest’

Published

on

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa — Matt Murray laid his emotions bare after allowing a pair of soft goals in the final seconds and overtime as the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Philadelphia Flyers, Saturday in the Stadium Series game.

The Penguins played with just four defensemen for the final 44 minutes of regulation and overtime. The defensemen performed well beyond admirably. The Penguins defensemen kept Philadelphia away from Murray and kept the puck away, too.

Murray said he let his team down, though he said it with far more colorful language.

Before practice Monday, Murray was taking extra work and drills to pick up the puck through traffic. Murray was peering through large pylons to pick up the puck as the coaches shot at him.
