Penguins Forward Jonathan Gruden Clears Waivers

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jonathan Gruden has made it through waivers unclaimed.
The Penguins can assign him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre, but are not obliged to do so by NHL rules. Although the team did not immediately announce its plans for Gruden, who has one goal and no assists in 11 games with the Penguins this season, it was expected to send him to the AHL.
He accompanied the team to Ottawa for its game against the Senators tonight at 7:08, and participated in the game-day skate, albeit as a spare defenseman.
The Penguins acquired Gruden from the Senators in the 2020 trade that sent goaltender Matt Murray to Ottawa.

Cool. Kostopoulos likes Gruden who seems like a relatively useful depth player. But the fact no one claimed him can only be explained by the vast Sullivan-led conspiracy against young players. Sully’s gotten to the rest of the NHL!
I agree. Sullivan has killed this team by stunting the youthful players, and not fixing the Powerplay.
I’ll give you the powerplay. It is the single biggest reason for this team’s situation. If it was even middle of the road this year, they might have a half dozen or more wins. And that’s before the recent unpleasantness. I don’t buy the stunting young players narrative.
What goes up must come down
Spinning Wheel got to go ’round
Talkin’ ’bout their troubles
It’s a cryin’ sin
Ride a painted Penguin
Let the Spinning Wheel spin…
Hey, quoting appropriate lyrics is my thing!
