Pittsburgh Penguins game Bryan Rust, Philadelphia Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers are reeling. They’ve fallen to fifth place, and on Wednesday night they suffered what will likely be THE worst loss of the NHL season. And Pittsburgh Penguins fans were absolutely giddy on social media as the New York Rangers tried to add the field goal in the Flyers 9-0 loss. Also in the Daily, the NHL trade bait list is growing, and we circled a few names which make sense for a Penguins trade.

We’ll start in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: poured through line combos, depth charts, salary caps to find the handful or so of bottom-six players who could be Penguins trade targets.

Sidney Crosby could be a diplomat if he leaves the hockey sphere. Crosby called out the NHL’s wildly inconsistent rules applications in regards to illegal hits.

And the Penguins are partnering up to distribute hockey equipment to youth players.

To the NHL trade bait lists…

TSN: Frank Seravalli examined the buyers and sellers on the NHL trade market.

Kyle Dubas said because of the 14-day quarantine rules, the Toronto Maple Leafs want to get a trade done ASAP.

And Toronto is poking around the big names, too. Dubas is made for the Toronto media.

Pierre LeBrun reported Washington or Colorado are the top landing spots if San Jose Sharks make goalie Devan Dubnyk available.

Sportsnet: On the 31 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman reported last year’s Jake Muzzin deal has set the asking price for Mattias Ekholm

Montreal Gazette: Marc Bergevin said the Canadiens might not enter the NHL trade market.

National Hockey Now…

Philly: The New York Rangers embarrassed the Flyers on Wednesday night, 9-0. There is panic in Philly and some big questions to answer.

Ok Penguins fans, try not to enjoy that too much.

NYI: The New York Islanders have a massive hole in the middle of their lineup after Anders Lee suffered an injury and is gone for the season. The Islanders need to be aggressive on the NHL trade market to fill that gap.

Boston: Bruins goalie Dan Vladar earned his first NHL win on Tuesday over the Penguins. He was the “happiest kid in the world” after the Bruins win.

San Jose: From one side, it was a bad game. San Jose gave up three unanswered goals, and things went off the rails in a 5-4 loss to Vegas.

Vegas: Get this–On the Vegas side, it was a great game. Ryan Reaves scored while his teammates brawled.

Florida: Seriously, the Florida Panthers are for reals. The first-place Florida Panthers.Â
