The NHL is still investigating the Evander Kane transgression of crossing the Canadian border, allegedly illegally. The Dallas Stars hope to move John Klingberg on the NHL trade market sooner than later. The Montreal Canadiens are circling their final candidates for the open GM position. And the Pittsburgh Penguins avoided a Shark bite but were a mess in their 2-1 overtime win.

Oh, and Louis Domingue made his return to the NHL.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The messy Penguins escaped the San Jose Sharks. Third goalie Louis Domingue made a statement, Mike Sullivan juggled the lines, and the Penguins won. Get the full story with the Pittsburgh Penguins report card.

San Jose: On the flip side, Sheng Peng writes the San Jose Sharks played winning hockey, but…

Domingue got the start, and Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan, unsolicited, opened the door to a backup goalie competition between the struggling Casey DeSmith and Louis Domingue.

Coaches felt Tristan Jarry’s workload had been too heavy. That’s just a side effect of playing well. PHN writes–it’s time to put Tristan Jarry in the Vezina conversation.

Here we go Steelers! DraftKings is offering PHN readers a whopper of a deal: 56-1 odds today. John Perrotto dishes his best preview and Steelers bets.

I’m not too fond of the Steelers’ chances, either, but John found a few good bets. He also likes some parlays to take advantage of the FanDuel promo.

NHL Trade Chatter, News & National Hockey Now:

Sportsnet: If it is Saturday, it’s Hockey Night in Canada. Elliotte Friedman updated the Evander Kane melodrama and reported the Dallas Stars are working harder to move John Klingberg.

The Montreal Canadiens are holding second interviews, and agent Kent Hughes must decide if he’s in or out.

Vancouver: Here’s the team to watch for a big shakeup. And we know Jim Rutherford is not shy. Rob Simpson reports that if the Canucks fall out of the playoff race, some big names such as J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser will be available on the NHL trade market.

Boston: Head coach Bruce Cassidy praised Jake DeBrusk but admitted the potential power forward still wants to be traded away from the Boston Bruins.

Vegas: Owner Bill Foley said you’re going to love them–new sweaters for the Vegas Golden Knights.

Florida: Ok, I love a good headline. Florida mauled the Columbus Blue Jackets. O-H, I Whoa! The Florida Panthers won 9-2.

Detroit: Coach Jeff Blashill busted up the top line, Alex Nedeljkovic was good enough, and the Detroit Red Wings stayed in the wild-card race with a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

Metro Division:

Philly: Isn’t it nice having solid Flyers coverage? The Philadelphia Flyers blew a late lead and lost AGAIN…

Washington: Tom Wilson, certified goal scorer. The Washington Capitals beat the Islanders 2-0.

NYI: With the win, the Capitals dug the New York Islanders playoff hole just a bit deeper.
