The drumbeat on the NHL trade market surrounding Claude Giroux and the Colorado Avalanche got just a bit louder as the Philadelphia Flyers scouts took in a Colorado Eagles game on Friday night. Head coach Mike Sullivan. Giroux, Jacob Chychrun, and Marc-Andre Fleury fill the top spots on TSN’s NHL trade bait list. Brad Marchand is appealing his six-game suspension for snapping on Tristan Jarry, and Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan indicated that Kasperi Kapanen and Evgeni Malkin would skate together again on Sunday.

First, Malkin is a game-time decision though everyone expects him to play.

Sullivan made his comments after the optional practice on Friday. For better and worse, Sulivan is going to jumpstart Kapanen’s season and what better center than Malkin?

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand appealed his six-game punishment for popping Jarry. He said the incident was suspension-worthy. Pittsburgh Penguins news.

I discussed and debated the incident, Malkin, Kapanen, and more with Jeff Hatthorn during my latest appearance on 93-7 the Fan to discuss all things Penguins.

And–Casey DeSmith submitted his second straight strong start on Thursday. What does that mean for GM Ron Hextall, the team, and the Penguins’ plans at the NHL trade deadline?

I must’ve drank 15 Dr. Peppers…

NYI: Stick a fork in the Isles. They’re about done. They lost (LOST!) to the Edmonton Oilers, and the hole for the New York Islanders gets deeper.
