Dan’s Daily: Jarry Saves Penguins, DeBrusk Requests Trade, Kane’s Agent Calling

Pittsburgh Penguins, Tristan Jarry, NHL trade

The Boston Bruins haven’t worked too hard to move Jake DeBrusk, but that’s about to change as the young forward has requested a trade out of Boston. The San Jose Sharks already put Evander Kane on the NHL trade market, but his new agent is getting involved and calling teams to speed along the process. The folks at Sportsnet are circling Montreal Canadiens GM candidates, and Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry stole a point that his team had no business getting.

You’re going to see big headlines about Kane. Trust me on this one. First, some of the Penguins news:

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Tristan Jarry robbed the Calgary Flames and saved a point for the Penguins in a game they had no business taking to the shootout.

Calgary: Our man in Calgary, Steve Macfarlane, has coverage from the other side. They were wowed by Jarry, too.

PHN+: If you look, the Penguins warts are showing, and it’s cause for genuine concern. One issue–Where are the Penguins defensemen?

NHL Trade Chatter:

Sportsnet: Agent Dan Milstein began chumming the waters and stirring the pot on Monday. Evander Kane will report to the AHL, but Milstein is working the phones to spark a trade.

NBC: Jake DeBrusk’s agent also confirmed he wants out of Boston. He’ll stay with the team until a trade is complete—cue 500 NHL trade rumors for DeBrusk.

Sportsnet Video: Who are the initial candidates for the Montreal Canadiens GM job?

NHL News, National Hockey Now:

The Fenway Group’s officially agreed to purchase the Pittsburgh Penguins, and they’re keeping Mario Lemieux around.

And–Good News–Evgeni Malkin hit the ice with the team on Monday in the morning skate, and...the Penguins were pretty happy.

Boston: Get this–Brad Marchand laid it bare. Before the NHL suspended him three games for a slew foot, he blamed Canadian fans who “make it miserable” for their teams. Good read.

Washington: Alex Ovechkin doesn’t care what you think. Ovechkin and the Capitals are rising above injuries and “the bullshit talk.”

Detroit: The team right behind the Penguins in the wild-card race is the Detroit Red Wings. One minor problem with Detroit–they can’t win on the road.

Colorado: Sidney Crosby’s buddy and Tim Horton’s coworker Nathan MacKinnon returned to practice on Monday, and it was a big deal.

It’s all fun and games until someone gets upset that you spilled the nachos and starts beating you with a prosthetic leg. It’s happened to everyone, right?
