A few nights without the NHL playoffs, and it almost seems like summer, eh? John Gibson lit up the NHL trade rumors, but there’s been some pushback, too. The New York Rangers’ offseason decisions could spring forth a scoring line center or a former high draft pick. Barry Trotz will get free beer for life if he chooses Winnipeg, and our resident draft expert circled a first-round potential that would fit the Pittsburgh Penguins like a glove.

Also, later today, we’ll preview the Stanley Cup Final. Dave Molinari had a long chat with Rick Tocchet, who had some pretty strong takes on the Penguins. And I’m working on a few offseason stories. I’d tell you what they are, but why tip off the competition, eh?

At 10 a.m. Marco D’Amico’s chat with Logan Cooley premieres on our YouTube channel. If you follow the channel, you’ll get notified of premiere videos and live chat. So, click that subscribe button.

It’s a tough offer to beat…

CBC: A local brewery is willing to give Barry Trotz free beer for life if the Manitoba boy comes almost-home to coach the Winnipeg Jets. Would you accept? The boys probably didn’t expect to go viral, but good on them. Barry Trotz’s awesome offer.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Marco D’Amico floated a name as part of his complete mock draft and made a pretty good case. He circled Isaac Howard for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

NHL Trade Chatter, News & National Hockey Now

First, the John Gibson NHL trade chatter. Legit? I’ll let you make the call. A solid reporter who doesn’t make a habit of getting those stories broke the news. Then Gibson’s agent fired back.

NHL trade rumors, John Gibson

NY Post: Mollie Walker looks at the pending New York Rangers’ decisions. We all assumed they were a year away, but they may not be as good next year. Ryan Strome walks? Mollie goes through, and who could bolt, every pun intended, for greener pastures.

Montreal Hockey Now: The top of the 2022 NHL Draft has been known as the Shane Wright draft for three years, but a couple of kids are making things interesting. Our boy D’Amico also spoke with another draft expert, and Juraj Slafkosvky is gaining fast on the outside. Montreal Canadiens draft analysis.

NYI: Stefen Rosner knows the Islanders need some help. Josh Anderson could be on the NHL trade block. Could Montreal give up Anderson if they received the New York Islanders’ 13th overall pick?

Detroit: It’s enduring. His name is part of the hockey Rushmore. The Gordie Howe connection to the Stanley Cup Final. Detroit Red Wings story.

Our Detroit boys haven’t had meaningful hockey to cover in months, yet they’re creating some fun stories. Can’t wait to join our sites under one subscription. They’ve been a wonderful addition.

Vegas: It seems our Owen Krepps is playing with alliteration. “Peculiar Pauses Poisoned Pacioretty’s Potentially Praiseworthy Performance,” Krepps writes. It was a surprisingly lost season for the Vegas Golden Knights.
