Published

on

Pittsburgh Penguins, NHL trade, John Tortorella

Florida Panthers head coach Andrew Brunette was nominated for the Jack Adams Award, but they are interviewing big-name coaches who could replace him. Or not. The NHL trade rumors landed on goalies. The Flyers finally made John Tortorella official, and he met the media with our Sam Carchidi. Shea Weber thanked Montreal Canadiens fans, and the Pittsburgh Penguins’ decisions are starting to logjam.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final is tonight, as well. It’s going to be green grass and high times in Denver.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: First, the NHL season is WAY too long. We ran the numbers–the league could reduce the season, help the players and make more money — AND — Penguins GM Ron Hextall has a myriad of decisions beginning with Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin. Still, it’s only a few weeks until the NHL Draft, in which trades are plentiful, and less than a month until NHL free agency. A backlog could rush a few of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ decisions.

Better late than never. The Penguins have a history of landing late-round picks. Dave Molinari nailed it. Pittsburgh Penguins draft.

Pittsburgh Penguins website: Here’s a little something to watch. It’s not the most crucial public news, but the team added a new layer to their strength and conditioning department. Teena Murray is the new Senior VP of Integrated Performance.

Since I totally whiffed on my Game 1 prediction, check it…
