The Pittsburgh Penguins didn’t play poorly or even excessively sloppy as they’ve played over the past few weeks, their 1-0 win over the New York Rangers notwithstanding. However, with a chance to begin stacking wins and a non-playoff opponent, the Penguins couldn’t finish. The Columbus Blue Jackets converted a couple of Brian Dumoulin turnovers into goals.

And then Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby buried chances in the final minutes of the third period and the Penguins earned a 3-2 comeback win over Columbus.

On another positive note, one day after a no-show performance against the Rangers, Kasperi Kapanen had his best game in weeks. He created a pair of turnovers with strong backchecks and earned an assist on Chad Ruhwedel’s first-period goal.

Also, one team sent their AGM to the Pittsburgh Penguins last two home games. And another team has scouted the last two Penguins games, including Columbus. We’ll discuss those teams, too.
