Penguins Postgame Q&A: Anger, Trades, & Sullivan, Oh My
PHILADELPHIA — The Pittsburgh Penguins’ game started badly and only got worse. They not only lost but did so embarrassingly to the rival Philadelphia Flyers, 6-1, at Wells Fargo Center Tuesday.
There wasn’t a happy soul in the Penguins locker room, nor outside of it, as coach Mike Sullivan ripped the team’s performance.
Rather than try to analyze a performance that more closely resembled what you might step over on the Philly subway, we did a postgame Q&A with the Qs submitted via X. The questions were pretty good. I’ll confess, I expected a lot of angry rants, but instead, I think we got to the heart of the situation with some trade talk, what to expect next, and a more complete analysis of Sullivan.
We started with locker room quotes as coach Mike Sullivan hammered his team’s performance (2:00), keeping motivation (3:00), will the Penguins trades and sell-off begin now (6:00), the next 12-24 months of Kyle Dubas’s tenure and that analysis (8:06), Sullivan reality and criticism (11:20), trading Erik Karlsson and teams that could afford him (15:20), and who gets traded next and how Dubas has set the table (18:25).
And we end on a joke (21:00).
