The Pittsburgh Penguins again lacked discipline and puck management. The Carolina Hurricanes took advantage of the Penguins generosity and took first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 4-3 win at PPG Paints Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Evan Rodrigues scored his first goal since Jan. 6 when he whisted a power-play tally with 72 seconds remaining. The Penguins trailed for most of the game, however, two goals in three minutes late in the second period tied the game 2-2.

Bryan Rust finished a Kris Letang rebound after extended offensive zone pressure. Then Sidney Crosby blasted a slapshot past Carolina goalie Antti Raanta.

The Penguins gave up goals nine seconds into the second and third period, and a power by play goal midway through the third period by Sebastian Aho, which was the game winner.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski joined 93-7 the Fan host Paul Zeise to break down the game, those Penguins mistakes, what they mean, and the big question–are the Penguins NHL trade deadline needs changing?

Perhaps Dan’s updated answer will surprise. Have a listen:
