PHN Penguins Postgame: What Went Wrong, Winless in 7?!

Published

on

The answers are shrinking. The Pittsburgh Penguins are winless in seven, near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, and now can’t find a win even when outplaying their opponents.

The Seattle Kraken beat the Penguins 3-2 with two third-period goals on Saturday. The Penguins rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the middle of the third period, but former teammate Brandon Tanev kicked a puck to Yanni Gourde near the Penguins’ net for the game-winning goal.

And Kris Letang’s defiant postgame comments, “We’re confident in the group we have.”

The Penguins limited Seattle offensively. Outshot them 37-28, outchanced them 29-20, and had more high-danger chances (12-9) but lost anyway.

After speaking with Sidney Crosby, Bryan Rust, and Tristan Jarry in the Penguins locker room and the Mike Sullivan postgame press conference, we try to provide some answers.

Crosby and Jake Guentzel combined for both Penguins’ goals, including Crosby’s 900 career assist.

Can’t blame turnovers, the fourth line, or Brian Dumoulin. It was another tough loss and a head-scratching evening for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
