Penguins Wrap: Predictions Galore; U.S. Hall Call; Promotions
Training camp is approaching. The Pittsburgh Penguins look to have a lot of competition on tap, especially at forward. Over the past week, PHN took a look ahead and made several observations and predictions, from over/unders to potential career bests to what the lineup will look like.
Meanwhile, two big names from the Penguins past got a Hall call.
Also, with the season drawing closer, the Penguins released their full promotional schedule.

Saturday: It’s what will be on most fans’ minds when camp starts — what will the Penguins’ lineup and combinations look like? PHN took a stab at what the lines will be.
Sunday: Predictions are what it’s about this time of year. We haven’t seen camp practices or preseason games. There are lots of questions about performances and statistical ceilings. Such as, will Sidney Crosby reach 35 goals? PHN makes some interesting predictions in this look at several over/under situations.
Parallel to the over/under, PHN wondered about some potential individual accomplishments. Among them, will Drew O’Connor have his best season in terms of goals? Here are four possible career bests.
Monday: OK, PHN did it. It labeled some of the Penguins’ offseason acquisitions as vagabonds. They are journeymen hoping to find a spot in the lineup and contribute. How will they respond to their opportunity?
You know the list of countries that are pretty much the regular cast for the Olympics. With the NHL players back in the fold for 2026, some countries still had to qualify. Denmark did just that, led by Penguins center Lars Eller.
Tuesday: What of Sidney Crosby’s contract? That’s one of the topics PHN tackled in this edition of Penguins one-timers.
Like we said, things will be ramping up this month. Get out your calendar. Here’s what to watch for in September.
Wednesday: We’ve been talking about September, but here’s a different perspective. With a training camp full of questions and competition, followed by an opening month of the season with critical games, a lot could be determined in September and October.
The 3,219th indication that the season is approaching (that’s only a slight exaggeration) is the annual release of theme nights and giveaways. So, a Zamboni gravy boat? You bet. The Penguins announced their full promotional schedule.
Thursday: There is little doubt at this point that, rather than a full teardown, the Penguins are rebuilding around their core stars. That’s the cold, hard truth. And, as it turns out, the cold, hard truth is one of things on PHN’s of three things necessary for a rebuild.
Two stars from two Penguins Cup eras got a prestigious call from the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Here’s the latest on Kevin Stevens and Matt Cullen.
Friday: A potential trade involving a Penguins goaltender or goaltending prospect isn’t a new idea. The rumors aren’t going away. However, with the season approaching it has become clear that a lot of teams will be looking to acquire a netminder, meaning the Penguins could have a big affect on the goalie trade market.
