There will be several unique hockey nights in Pittsburgh this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins announced their promotional schedule and Hall of Fame announcer Mike Lange will be honored as will the 40th anniversary of Team USA and the Miracle on Ice.

Hockey nights, indeed.

On Oct. 8, the Penguins will honor Lange and his 45th season as the Penguins play by play broadcaster with “Mike Lange Night” when they face the Winnipeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena. All fans in attendance will receive a special a Lange bobblehead. The Penguins will also hold an one-ice ceremony before the game.

The Penguins also added promotion to the schedule. On Feb. 11, the team will honor the 40th anniversary of the 1980 Team USA defeat of the mighty Soviet Army team at the Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. Do you believe in miracles? The Miracle on Ice captain Mike Eruzione, who scored the winning goal in a 4-3 upset victory will be the Penguins special guest. Players and Penguins alumni will offer their insights into the impact of that team and its gold medal achievement.

Jim Rutherford bobblehead night will be on Nov. 19. The Hockey Hall of Fame selected the Penguins GM for induction this season.

Following “Mike Lange Night”, the Penguins will giveaway Sidney Crosby growth charts to the first 3,000 kids ages 12 and under at the Oct. 10 game vs. Anaheim.
