Lars Eller, Pittsburgh Penguins

Third-line center Lars Eller did not participate in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ practice at PPG Paints Arena today.

Coach Mike Sullivan said Eller was ill. There was no immediate word on Eller’s status for the Penguins’ home game against Detroit Thursday.

The Penguins also recalled forward Radim Zohorna from their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre and assigned Sam Poulin to the Baby Penguins.

Zohorna was on the ice for practice and filled in for Eller between Reilly Smith and Valtteri Puustinen during drills.

Zohorna, who is 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, has four goals and three assists in 31 games with the Penguins in 2023-24. He also recorded nine goals and 16 assists in 29 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, including five goals and seven assists in his past nine games.

Eller has dressed for all of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 78 games to date, putting up 15 goals and 14 assists and logging considerable ice time on both special teams.
