NEW YORK — According to Tom Petty, even the losers get lucky sometimes. The first two home games of all Round One playoff series are complete and all but one series is tied 1-1. Except for the outmatched Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins, who lost Game 1, the other Game 1 losers won Game 2. The New York Rangers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 at Madison Square Garden.

The Dallas Stars clamped down on the Calgary Flames, the Florida Panthers reminded the Washington Capitals who won the President’s Trophy, but Predators third goalie Connor Ingram made the Colorado Avalanche sweat before losing 2-1 in OT.
