CRANBERRY — Rickard Rakell, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ second-line right winger who is on the Long-Term Injured list because of an unspecified upper-body issue, went through an on-ice workout at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex Sunday morning.

He has missed the past six games and was enduring a miserable season before he was hurt, putting up no goals and just four assists in 17 games.

Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel, who has an unspecified lower-body injury that has forced him to miss the past six games, went through about a 40-minute session on the ice before Rakell came out of the locker room.

Paying him a lot of money for nothing lately! See a lot of former traded Pens doing well on other teams lately! Who besides O’Conner is willing to make contact? Z seems like he lends nothing to outcomes either! The best hope is outside defense men slap shots and screens keeping the goalie’s sight lines screwed! Rakell needs to get back on it! Go Pens!
