Penguins Scrimmage Grades: Who Starred, Who Didn’t | PHN+
The Pittsburgh Penguins will break camp in a few days and head to the bubble in Toronto to begin their Phase 4 quest for the Stanley Cup. The team added the third scrimmage to their schedule so the quarantined players could get a little bit of game action, and coaches would have one more chance to evaluate players before adding them to their 31-player roster before heading north.
The Penguins went for the dress rehearsal as they played at 7 p.m., again in full uniforms. Mark Recchi again served as an official, and he may have again swallowed the whistle as some of the Penguins veterans ribbed their coach over non-calls and missed offside calls.
Jared McCann, Anthony Angello, Teddy Blueger, Conor Sheary, and Patrick Marleau scored goals. Sidney Crosby remained absent and has not officially participated in practice or scrimmage since he left the intra-squad scrimmage last Saturday.
The final score was 3-3, but the goals matter less than the process and the play. So…
