Sidney Crosby Goal, Pgh Kidney Recipient Nominated for NHL Awards
Remember when Pittsburgh Penguins all-world captain Sidney Crosby skated around and through the entire Edmonton Oilers team then beat the goalie with a vintage Crosby-type backhand. That goal has been nominated for goal of the year as part of the NHL Fan Choice Awards. Crosby is also a part of other nominations, too.
The second annual NHL Fan Choice Awards are a fun gimmick on the NHL.com website in which fans can vote for several silly awards including best puppy and best beard, but also the more hockey centered awards like best goal and best save. Marc-Andre Fleury is up for that one.
Here is the link to vote for the goal of the year. Hint–if you don’t vote for Crosby’s game-winning goal on Oct. 23 goal against Edmonton, you did it wrong (Goal of the Year)

That goal never gets old, does it?
Sidney Crosby is also part of the moment of the year, too. When Tim Horton’s set up the meet and greet between Crosby and the only Kenyan Hockey team, it was something special. When Crosby laced them up with the boys it was even better.
The Pittsburgh Penguins also received a nomination for Moment of the Year when they hosted kidney transplant recipient Kelly Sowatsky whose sign at a game helped her find a kidney donor. If that isn’t the moment of the year or millennium, we don’t know what is.
We're honored to host transplant recipient Kelly Sowatsky and kidney donor Jeff Lynd at tonight's game. Earlier today, Kelly and Jeff joined us in the locker room to meet some of the players.

You can view all of the Moment of the Year candidates here.
There are 20 categories including Fleury’s save of the year candidate. You begin voting for all of the awards and P.K. Subban in Lindsey Vonn’s swimsuit, too. If you didn’t see that Tweet last summer, perhaps you don’t do Twitter right? Or maybe you have good taste. Either way, the voting results will be announced via social media platforms on June 19.
