The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Dmitri Samorukov to a one-year contract.

The deal carries a salary-cap hit of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Samorukov, 24, has three games of NHL experience — two with St. Louis in 2022-23 and one with Edmonton a year earlier — and had one goal and four assists in 15 games with the Penguins’ farm team in Wilkes-Barre this fall.

He is 6-foot-3, 188 pounds and was a third-round draft choice by the Oilers in 2017.

When Samorukov was promoted to the Blues in January, St. Louis coach Craig Berube described him as “pretty much of a stay-at-home d-man type, a pretty simple player.”

It is not known whether he will be in the lineup when the Penguins take on the New York Rangers Wednesday at 7:08 p,m. at PPG Paints Arena.
