Penguins Hextall Says He’d Like to Add Toughness, But… | PHN+

Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ron Hextall paused. And laughed. When pressured with a direct question about the possibility of a Penguins trade for toughness, Hextall knew the obvious connection to Washington Capitals tough-guy Tom Wilson and the Thursday night hit on Penguins center Mark Jankowski.

“Great question,” Hextall said through a chuckle.

But he also gave a real answer that some Penguins fans may argue. And others will appreciate.

The response was part of a surprise give-and-take with the Pittsburgh Penguins media on Saturday morning. So, what of the debate surrounding the Penguins adding toughness to deal with the likes of Mr. Wilson and other teams, such as the New York Islanders with Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin, who tried to send a message to defenseman Mike Matheson last week.
