For years if not decades, the Pittsburgh Penguins put their prospects in an annual September tournament until Ron Hextall pulled them out, but sources tell PHN that could be changing. The Vegas Golden Knights had some fun, then hung on to beat the Florida Panthers to claim a 3-1 series lead. Goalie Adin Hill bore his teeth again and was throwing punches. And the Philadelphia Flyers are putting everyone on the NHL trade block.

Greetings from the FLL airport. My 36-hour day is coming to an end. Game 4 surely was interesting, and with any luck, I’ll be home by next weekend. IF the VGK wins in five, I’ll be back home. I miss my motorcycle. The rest? Meh. It was good to catch up with Florida Hockey Now’s George Richards and Colby Guy.

Pittsburgh Penguins / Steelers, Pirates

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: A prospects tournament again? I’m all for it. Dave Molinari did some digging. He has the latest on what Kyle Dubas might do for the Pittsburgh Penguins youth.

It was silly for Ron Hextall to pull out. The one game he allowed them to play last September was quite memorable; the Boston Bruins kids were trying to kill Nathan Legare. That’s only a partial exaggeration. As memory serves, he drew four penalties and scored a power-play goal (maybe the game-winner).

Steelers Now:

An under-the-radar CB impressed with a pick-six at Steelers OTAs.

It looks like no DeAndre Hopkins for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh Baseball Now:

It looks like injuries are taking their toll, the next man up is also hurt. An uh-oh situation for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Jack Brannigan has found his power stroke. Check out today’s Pirates prospects report.

NHL Trade Talk, News & National Hockey Now:

Stanley Cup Final:

Vegas Hockey Now: Oh, we’ve got some stories from the Game 4 win. First, the Vegas Golden Knights recap.

Alex Pietrangelo had good humor about his “oops” moment. He batted a puck over the glass with 17 seconds left, so he and the team had an agonizing 17 seconds of 6v4. Pietrangelo gently mocked the third reporter who asked about it. Bruce Cassidy said it felt like 17 minutes. Go inside the Golden Knights locker room.

And the last story from Vegas (at least until I get cranking a few more), Adin Hill sprang to his feet at the horn and started throwing punches, then he pancaked Sam Bennett. Check it out. Cult hero (and UFA) Adin Hill.

Florida Hockey Now: From the flip side, the postgame report from the Florida Panthers’ loss.

The Rest:

Sportsnet: The NHL trade talks swirled around Philly this week. Elliotte Friedman tossed another name out there Saturday when he reported Scott Laughton has been very popular as a Flyers trade chip.

Philly Hockey Now: Our Chuck Bausman takes a look from the Philly side, what could a Carter Hart trade fetch?

Boston Hockey Now: Nope. Pierre-Luc Dubois is on the NHL trade block, but sources say the Boston Bruins can’t afford it.

Winnipeg Free Press: Why does Dubois want out of Winnipeg? Mark MacIntyre says the Jets need to confront their toxic culture and locker room scene.

Colorado Hockey Now: J.T. Compher, you say? Evan Rawal advocates the Avalanche trade his rights.

Gee, I know one team who could put him to good use.

San Jose Hockey Now: Is this a smoke screen or the deal? Everyone is asking themselves that. Sheng Peng reports there might be character issues with Matvei Michikov. Or are there? If he’s there, will the San Jose Sharks take him?
