Penguins Training Camp Schedule Released; It’s Go Time

The Pittsburgh Penguins skated again on Tuesday morning at the UPMC Lemieux Complex, though it was again in an unofficial capacity. The Penguins official start of training camp with head coach Mike Sullivan will be on Thursday morning.
And it’s go time.
Thursday morning, Sept. 23, the Penguins begin the 2021-22 season with a 9 a.m. at the UPMC Lemieux Complex. Fortunately, the players have been skating as scrimmages will begin on Day 1. It’s unclear from the Penguins’ official camp schedule if the team plans to have their annual training camp championship.
You remember the thrilling 2019 training camp championship in which Team One won. Or maybe it was Team Three?
The Pittsburgh Penguins preseason schedule begins on Tuesday, Sept. 27, when the team hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena. The annual “Free Game for Kids” returns on Sunday, Oct. 3.
The Penguins just wrapped their rookie camp on Tuesday. PHN had full coverage and analysis. We’ll also have full coverage of the Penguins camp too. The team invited 58 players to camp.Â
Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will not be on the ice as both are recovering from offseason surgeries. Brian Boyle has been skating with the team. The big center signed a PTO with the Penguins earlier this month.

Last year you could zoom some of the scrimmages. Are they doing that this year?
Dan, How does Boyle look? Can he still play at the NHL level?
Marking my bet.
Pittsburgh + 210 to miss the playoffs.15 year streak ends IMO.
Its weird that after watching Sidney Crosby all these years that you would bet against him. If he is out longer I would be there right with you. As it stands now, a team with Crosby does not miss the playoffs
Whether Crosby plays or not this team is very weak IMO. I’m betting that this roster is now worse than a First Round exit it is a non qualifier. I feel for Crosby. I feel very strong this roster is small, light, and lacks any defensive ability to either hold leads or withstand offensive pressure.
