Jarry Dominos Fall; Penguins Demote Murashov
The Pittsburgh Penguins reassigned goalie Tristan Jarry to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL Saturday morning on a conditioning assignment that can last up to 14 days. However, the Penguins organization continued making moves to accommodate Jarry’s playing time and the progression of their prospects.
The WBS Penguins assigned prospect goalie Sergie Murashov to Wheeling of the ECHL to make room for Jarry.
Murashov made his AHL debut on Sunday, Oct. 13. He stopped 27 in a win over the Springfield Thunderbirds. Filip Larsson has started the other four games for WBS.
Murashov was the Penguins’ 2022 fourth-round draft pick (118th overall). He dominated the Russian Junior League (MHL) last season, posting a .930 save percentage. In four MHL seasons, he posted a 73-30-12 record, a 2.04 goals against average, a .934 save percentage, and 22 shutouts.
He played in seven KHL games with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. He was 4-1-2 with one shutout.
For the best. He can start all the games in Wheeling. whereas he has only played 1 so far in Wilkes-Barre.
The gifts just keep on giving.
I think at this point you either have to waive Jarry and pray some desperate GM claims him like the Blues did with Kapanen a couple of years ago or just accept the fact that this team is a complete dumpster fire and far closer to a lottery pick than a playoff berth and start Jarry and tank.
I think Dubas hopes that Jarry looks good in WBS and can try to trade him after his 14 days down there…even if it means bringing him back up to Pitts and playing him a couple games and showcasing Jarry again….hopefully Jarry plays good….If THAT doesn’t spur some team to trade for him, then I think you have to waive him and as you said hope for a claim.
It’s a great big 💩 sandwich and everyone get a big bite.
