Penguins Video Q&A: Heaping Blame, Playoff Situation, & Mike Sullivan

NEW YORK  — It was not a night the Pittsburgh Penguins will want to remember, but they probably should. After a few mistakes and goalie Tristan Jarry not making the “extra save” for them, their territorial domination was for naught. And their bid for a 17th consecutive playoff appearance hangs perilously in the balance.

The Penguins trailed the New York Rangers, 2-0, after 20 minutes, then imploded en route to a 6-0 loss at Madison Square Garden. PHN’s Dan Kingerski tried to make sense of it all, including coach Mike Sullivan’s vigorous defense of defenseman Brian Dumoulin and center Jeff Carter.

Following the game, Sullivan gave a vigorous defense of the pair and criticized the media because “those are easy guys to pick on,” and the Penguins’ coaching staff “respectfully disagrees” with media assessments.

Dan confronted, “why should fans keep watching,” who should start in goal on Monday, what to do with Dumoulin and Carter, and who should the Penguins re-sign this summer?
