Penguins vs. Senators; Changed Lineup, Notes & How to Watch
The Pittsburgh Penguins will try again this weekend to hit the ice as their preseason winds down this week, and we can look forward to regular season action. The Penguins will ice an NHL-heavy lineup, including Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, against the Ottawa Senators, as the league gets some corporate sponsor help to celebrate small-town hockey.
The puck drops tonight just after 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sudbury Community Arena.
Sunday is the Kraft Hockeyville celebration and the game will be played in Sudbury, Ont., though the actual winner of this year’s Hockeyville contest was Elliot Lake, Ont, which is about two hours west of Sudbury.
Both teams are bringing their best to celebrate the contest and small-town hockey, from where so many NHL players have come.
“I think our guys are excited to go there. I know what it means to the community of Sudbury (and) I’ve read a little bit about some of the activities that are going on there, and it’s just a huge deal for that community,” coach Mike Sullivan said. “When a guy like (Sidney Crosby) goes to a small community like that, it just means the world to them. And, I think we all have a responsibility to support and grow the game and to support the people that love the game like we do.”
The Penguins released their lineup on Friday. However, the unexpected postponement of the Penguins’ game Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings led to some lineup changes. Counting Sunday, the Penguins’ schedule includes five games in the next six days. Sullivan reverted to his Saturday goalie lineup. It’s expected Tristan Jarry will start, followed by Filip Larsson in relief.
As part of the celebration, Ottawa will dress its best players, too. Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle are among the NHL regulars in the Ottawa lineup.
Who to Watch
It will be our first time seeing talented 21-year-old prospect Ville Koivunen with NHL regulars. Koivunen has flashed skill but is still adapting to the North American game after blitzing the SM-liiga with 56 points in 59 games last season. It’s also a big night for Sam Poulin, as he has an uphill climb to make the NHL roster and avoid being placed on waivers.

Three games in 3 days. Good thing they still have a football team sized roster.
Poulin’s last stand…?
Sullivan is reaching Kamala like in the word salad department.
Maybe so but i would rather have a fresh green salad than an old stale Caeser!
All right boys! I left one political comment go because it was benign. Let’s keep it benign, so I don’t have to play referee and delete a bunch of partisan comments.
