VANCOUVER — From ice level at Rogers Place, where the Pittsburgh Penguins raced to a 2-0 lead but, for the second time in four games, gave it away with disastrous defense, Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski breaks down the greatest problem in the Penguins quest to unravel two years of playoff-absent decline.



Sidney Crosby created a loose puck at the blue line by contacting no less than three Vancouver Canucks, and Evgeni Malkin scored a breakaway goal with about seven minutes remaining, but the Penguins lost 4-3 to Vancouver at Rogers Arena Saturday night.

It’s notable that Crosby and Malkin connected on the goal because coach Mike Sullivan didn’t just change the Penguins lines before the game; he changed them during the game several times and rode the star players for much of the third period.
