After slipping into the NFL Playoffs as the last seed in the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Kansas City Chiefs at 8:20 p.m. Sunday night in a wild card round game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City that provides plenty of opportunities for NFL betting and a few sneaky Steelers bets. The Barstool Sportsbook Promo Code will even ease the sting of losing if your picks are wrong.
The Steelers (9-7-1) are double-digit underdogs and were routed 36-10 by the Chiefs (12-5) in the same venue the day after Christmas. Yet the Steelers hold out hope of making a miracle run to a Super Bowl championship reminiscent of what happened 16 years ago.
In 2005, the Steelers were the last seed in the AFC yet won three road games to reach the Super Bowl. They then toppled the Seattle Seahawks for the franchise’s fifth Lombardi Trophy.
To do so again, the Steelers will have to get through the Chiefs and that is not an easy task as evidenced by the Week 16 drubbing. Furthermore, the Steelers ranks in the bottom half of the NFL in almost every major team statistical category.
Offensively, they are 21st among the 32 teams in scoring, 23rd in total yardage and 29th in both rushing and pass yards. Defensively, they are ninth against the pass but last against the run while ranking in 20th in points allowed and 24th in total yards given up.

The Steelers got buried by the Chiefs in the regular season, falling behind 23-0 at halftime then seeing the deficit reaching as much as 33 points in the second half.
The Chiefs held just a 381-303 edge in total yards but forced the Steelers into three turnovers, two lost fumbles, and an interception. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 23 of 30 passes and 258 yards and three touchdowns for the Chiefs while Ben Roethlisberger was 23 of 39 for 159 yards, a TD, and the pick.
The most impressive aspect of the Chiefs’ victory was winning by four touchdowns despite missing tight end Travis Kelce, who finished the regular season with 92 catches for 1,125 yards and nine touchdowns. He was in COVID-19 protocols.

Leading receiver Tyreek Hill missed the entire week of the practice leading up to the game because of the protocols and was a non-factor with two receptions for 19 yards. Hill set the franchise record for receptions this season with 111 for 1,239 yards and nine scores.
With Kelce and Hill healthy for the rematch, the Steelers’ defense will have its hands full. To have any chance of slowing the Chiefs, the Steelers will need outside linebacker T.J. Watt to consistently harass Mahomes after tying the NFL record with 22 ½ sacks in the regular season.
Watt was limited by one tackle by the Chiefs in the regular season, though.

Chiefs -13 (-113) Barstool Sportsbook
The comparisons between the 2005 Steelers and 2021 Steelers don’t have a bunch of validity. For one, Roethlisberger was 23 then and he’s 39 now. Furthermore, the ’05 Steelers also ranked third in the NFL in total defense that season.
The Chiefs blew out the Steelers just three weeks ago and it’s hard to imagine this game being any closer with Kelce and Hill at full health.
Dionte Johnson over 61.5 receiving yards (-113) Barstool Sportsbook
There is one good thing about a team getting blown out. It can pad the passing and receiving stats while being forced to throw on almost every down while trying to catch up.
Johnson is Roethlisberger’s most reliable target and should rack enough targets to cover this number against a Chiefs defense that is 27th in the NFL versus the pass.

The Chiefs have stumbled since running their winning streak to eight games by beating the Steelers. Kansas City then lost to the Bengals in Cincinnati and barely beat the Broncos in Denver.
However, it’s the playoff now and the intensity goes up a notch. The Chiefs won’t stumble against an opponent fortunate to be in the playoffs.
Chiefs 30, Steelers 13
