Potential Penguins Draft Picks: Brady Martin Analysis and Highlight Reel

Published

on

Brady Martin is the most pugnacious and energetic forward among the projected first-round picks, and the good news for the Pittsburgh Penguins and fans is that there is a legitimate chance he is available to the Penguins with the 11th overall pick at the NHL Draft, June 27.

There is a chance, anyway. It is far from a guarantee, especially as general managers league-wide watch the truculent Florida Panthers rough up the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. You can almost hear GMs in the Nos. 5-10 range saying, “We need Martin, and more players like him.”

At the NHL Scouting Combine, Martin answered questions about his daily life and upbringing. He is an old-school throwback to hockey players growing up on the farm. His family owns a large dairy and cattle farm with tens of thousands of animals, including 20,000 cows and 60,000 chickens. He picks rocks in the field and hopes his brothers are currently picking up the slack on his chores list while he spends time setting up his future as an NHL player.

National Hockey Now contributor Matt Meagher put together the video breakdown of Martin, from his speed, shot, and physicality.

Dan, if the GMs for teams 1-10 read your articles you’ve just sabotaged GMKD’s 2025 draft strategy. 😂🤣

No way we’ll get him now, or any of the good ones…

You think an epiphany occurred watching Floridas roster’s physicality, togetherness, and likeminded , singleminded desire to win? Some of us., cough cough, screamed ad nauseum that Sullivans ‘play the tight way’ and ideological rigidity led to sweeps exits and non qualifying. And were ridiculed by the Sullivan protectors . I’m finally hopeful , Dubas gets it , Sullivans gone, & size tenacity and Character are going to get valued. I’ll reserve judgement until the Draft and moves, but Karlsson has to go , Letang needs gone , and hating to lose needs to be the mindset . 3 more Bokos… Read more »

Right on. Sullivan absolutely did not get it. Watch N.Y. this year, it will get ugly sooner than later.

There is such a thing as farm strong. You pick up things that weights 40-50lbs. Hundreds of times a day. You learn to lift with your legs. I’m sure he is thick and is a rock. Probably hits like a linebacker.

Now you have to trade up with the Preds if this is true about trading up from five.

Well we know Rangers will suck next year. Hope we get their 26 pick. Their coach is a joke.

The addition of Matt Meagher to your staff is 💯 a stroke of genius. Matt’s work with scouting, rankings and draft prospects is second to none. These clips along with the player breakdown are very well done and are a tremendous addition to Dan’s articles. Keep up the excellent work guys!
