Gotta See It: Snoop Dogg Digs the Penguins-Kings Fights

Published

Chalk this under headlines we never thought we would write. The D-O-Double-G, Snoop Dogg was honored before the LA Kings-Pittsburgh Penguins game, Saturday night at the Staples Center and even dropped the ceremonial faceoff. And of course, he dropped it like it was hot, his arms wide after dropping the puck.

Somehow, it’s difficult to picture Sidney Crosby and Snoop discussing dispensaries and brands of Snoop Dogg’s favorite products. But it was the fight or near fight in the first period which got Snoop going.

And by the grace of the hockey gods, the rapper who dominated the 1990’s and made the Penguins diagonal “Pittsburgh” jersey famous in his Gin and Juice video, was doing color commentary when the extracurricular festivities broke out. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t know their names. It was more pure gold than Snoop’s grill.

Murder wasn’t the case, but it was a Doggy Dogg world as Dion Phaneuf and Garrett Wilson wanted a scrap. Eventually, everyone decided to Lay Low, which Ain’t No Fun but it’s better to be Young, Wild and Free than spend five minutes in the box.

Sorry for all of the Snoop puns. That’s kind of Who I Am.
