While it seemed improbable two months ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers go into their regular-season finale with playoff hopes as they host the Cleveland Browns at 1 p.m. Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview

The Browns beat the Steelers 29-17 on Thursday Night Football in Week 3 in Cleveland. The Steelers were without T.J. Watt, who had a torn pectoral muscle.

Watt is back in action and that is good news for the Steelers. Last season when the Steelers clobbered the Browns in Pittsburgh, Watt had a career-high four sacks while facing backup right tackle James Hudson.

Hudson will again be forced to start Sunday as Jack Conklin will sit out with a knee injury.

Watt has just five sacks in nine games this season. That comes a year after he tied the league record with 22.5 while winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Fellow outside linebacker Alex Highsmith has picked up the slack by recording a career-high 12 sacks. He will likely become the first player other than Watt to lead in that category since defensive end Cam Heyward in 2017.

The Steelers will look for more magic from rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett. He threw game-winning touchdown passes in the last minute of each of the last two games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens.

The most impressive part about Pickett’s recent performance is how he has cut down on interceptions. He has been picked only once in the last seven games after throwing eight interceptions in his first five games.

Najee Harris had a season-high 111 rushing yards against the Ravens.

The Browns are 3-2 since quarterback Deshaun Watson was reinstated following an 11-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Watson had his best game last Sunday when the Browns beat the Commanders with three touchdown passes. He threw just two in his first four games combined.

Watson was 9 of 18 overall for 169 yards and no interceptions.

Running back Nick Chubb is 52 yards away from joining the legendary Jim Brown as the second player in Browns’ history to reach 1,500 rushing yards in a season. Chubb ran for 113 yards against the Steelers in September.

While the Browns will miss the playoffs for the 19^th time in the last 20 seasons, they can sweep the Steelers in the season series for the first time since re-entering the NFL in 1999 as an expansion team.

As usual, the Browns have had their share of turmoil this week. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will not play after being sent home from practice Friday for making detrimental remarks about the organization in an interview.

As poorly as they played early in the season, the Steelers are still in the playoff hunt. It speaks to both their resiliency and the NFL’s parity.
