Watch: Penguins Goalie Murray Stoic After OT Loss to Islanders
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Matt Murray is not one to giveaway emotions, especially after a tough loss. The Penguins goalie can be short and sometimes literal when peppered with as many questions as shots in overtime. The goalie with the “Man in the Arena” tattoo on his bicep is the same has the same controlled presence on the ice and in the locker stall.
Tuesday night, Murray and the Penguins led the New York Islanders 4-2 late in the third period, until New York scored with five minutes remaining. And then with 90 seconds remaining. And then again in OT to beat Murray and the Penguins 5-4 in OT.
“It’s a tough one. It’s a tough one for sure. It felt like we had one right there,” Murray said. “And we just couldn’t get it done.”
The Penguins will see the New York Islanders again Thursday night in New York, where the Penguins beat New York in OT 12 days ago after the Penguins rallied from a three-goal deficit.
