We should thank the Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning for dragging out this saga for as long as possible. As soon as it goes away, we’ll all be left with debating arbitration cases and last season’s Corsi numbers. When the dreary part of the offseason begins, PHN has a couple feature series planned, but until then–there’s still hockey news!

Here is Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s report about the trade talks between the Penguins and Montreal for Habs captain Max Pacioretty. Spoiler: multiple inside sources contradicted previous national reports (Pittsburgh Hockey Now).

Today’s PHN Extra feature advocates the Penguins sign Carl Hagelin, not trade him. (PHN Extra. Subscription Required).

Artemi Panarin doesn’t like Columbus. His agent Dan Milstein said the Bread Man doesn’t want to spend eight years in Columbus. Ouch. (The Athletic. Subscription Required).

The Hockey News looked at the top remaining free agents. Read ’em and weep (The Hockey News).

Can anyone else touch the Cup? Ovechkin may weigh-in at 280 pounds next season. You can follow Alex Ovechkin’s Stanley Cup weekend in Moscow with Sportsnet (Sportsnet).

We’ll double dip from Sportsnet. They’re already looking ahead to the 2018-19 Calder Trophy winner. Here are the early favs (Sportsnet).

The NHL is heading towards another PR nightmare: Slava Voynov. The Kings defenseman was charged with domestic abuse three years ago, played in the KHL for two seasons and now appears headed towards reinstatement. Has enough time passed? (Puck Prose).

Audio: Lou Lamiorello chatted about the Tavares situation and Joshua Ho-Sang on TSN 1050 in Toronto. (TSN 1050)

And this must have been a scene stripped from a reality TV show. Brian Leetch’s wife dropped the gloves (allegedly) with a signing bartender (NY Post)
