It was a whirlwind day in Pittsburgh but the rest of the NHL was also busy chasing free agents and locking down necessary parts for a Stanley Cup run, too. The Capitals, Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning feel the urgency to get things done now while their championship windows are open. There is trade bait, the Buffalo Sabres side of the Conor Sheary trade and a few more contracts signed. And, the end of the John Tavares serial is at hand.

TSN’s Frank Seravalli looked at Jim Rutherford’s moves as a sign of the Penguins big-game hunting (Max Pacioretty?), and Tampa Bay and Winnipeg joining the fun (TSN).

The Hockey News’ Ken Campbell (one of my favorite writers) looked at the Sheary-Hunwick trade from Buffalo’s perspective (The Hockey News).

Jared Clinton of TSN writes an interesting piece–Why the Vegas Golden Knights are the most interesting team right now (The Hockey News).

Elliotte Friedman updates the John Tavares situation and other big names like Artemi Panarin (Sportsnet).

NBC Pro Hockey Talk’s Joey Alfieri takes a stab at the top five free agents and their landing spots (NBC Sports).

The Washington Capitals re-upped fourth line hero Devante Smith-Pelly, who marked seven goals in the playoffs (ESPN).

Randy Lee, the Ottawa Senators assistant GM, is facing a second harassment allegation (New York Post). Can’t every assistant GM just tease the boss’ son about getting a sandwich?

The Bruins are all-in this offseason. They’re chasing Tavares. And…JVR? (StanleyCupofChowder).
