Cardinals QB Trolls Philly with Sidney Crosby Jersey

Pittsburgh Penguins SIdney Crosby jersey, Kyler Murray arrives in Philadelphia

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has become such an icon and symbol of greatness that other athletes wear his jersey. And Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray knows how to make an entrance and upset fans in the process.

Crosby has also been so reviled in Philadelphia that he’s spawned a few consistent chants, including “Crosby sucks.” In his career, the Penguins star has tortured the Philadelphia Flyers and scored more points against them than any other NHL player (125), past or present. Crosby surpassed Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr as the all-time leading scorer against the Flyers in his most recent games against the Flyers.

Crosby’s dislike for Philadelphia is well-documented, too. It began in his very first game against the Flyers on Nov. 16, 2005. Flyers defenseman Derian Hatcher high-sticked Crosby, removing a couple of Crosby’s teeth in the process.

Crosby has exacted his revenge ever since.

So, on Sunday morning, Murray perhaps hoped to take a little inspiration from Crosby but also drive Philadelphia fans mad when he arrived at Lincoln Financial Field wearing a vintage Crosby jersey.

The 3-12 Cardinals visit the 11-4 Eagles Sunday at 1 p.m. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh fans, one of those three Cardinals’ wins was against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.
