NFL Week 2: Thursday Night Football Picks and Promos
NFL Week 2 starts with a Thursday Night heavyweight fight between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Playoff implications ride on this game, as these two teams are the best in the AFC East.
The line opened last Sunday night with Miami as -1 to -1.5 favorites and has moved in the Dolphins’ direction through the week. The Dolphins are now -2 favorites at most major sportsbooks.

I started the NFL season with a 9-4 Week 1 record. Let’s keep it going in Week 2 with my best NFL Week 2 Thursday Night Football bets.
Buffalo Bills +2 (FanDuel)
The Bills and the Dolphins struggled during the first half of their Week 1 games. The Bills fell behind the Arizona Cardinals 17-3 before rallying to win 34-28. The Dolphins fell behind 17-7 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars at the half before clawing to a 20-17 victory.
Those scores don’t tell the story.
The Dolphins benefitted from a Jaguars’ RB Travis Etienne fumble on the goal line. The Jags should’ve been up 24-7. Instead, the Dolphins drove the field for a TD on the ensuing possession.
Buffalo allowed a kickoff return touchdown. However, they outgained the Cardinals by 82 yards in Week 1, so the six-point victory margin is misleading.

The Dolphins let Travis Etienne and Cartavious Bigsby gash their defense for 117 yards. The Buffalo running attack of James Cook and QB Josh Allen (despite his non-throwing hand injury) should gain chunks of yards.
After an inauspicious start, the Bills defense hit its stride in the second half of Week 1. They allowed the Cardinals only 90 yards of offense and three points in the third and fourth quarters.
The Bills are the better team, and I like them as +2 underdogs and a small sprinkle on the moneyline.
Miami Dolphins Total Points Under 24.5 (FanDuel)
What the Dolphins have on offense is a couple of home-run hitters. The Tua Tagovailoa to Tyreek Hill combination makes huge splash plays that can shift a game.
Look at Week 1, where after Etienne fumbled on the goal line, Tua hit Hill for an 80-yard TD strike on the first play of the ensuing possession. What they don’t have is an offense that can sustain drives against an above-average defense.
Last year, Miami managed only 34 points in their two games versus the Bills. They also wilted versus the Kansas City Chiefs, scoring only 14 points.
Look for the Miami Dolphins offense to struggle against a Bills defense that projects as one of the NFL’s best.
