NFL Week 7 is here, and we’re in it now. The sun sets before 7 p.m., Jack-o-Lanterns dot the porches in suburban neighborhoods, and we’re finally getting a clearer picture of which NFL teams are contenders.

This week has a cornucopia of fantastic games, including a Super Bowl rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Francisco 49ers.

Sunday can’t come soon enough. Here are three early-week picks for NFL Week 7.

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars (London) Under 42.5

Do you need a reason to get out of bed before 10 a.m. on a Sunday? I do, and I’m a sick puppy, so I’ll be awake watching this game between two 1-5 teams.

New England rookie QB Drake Maye impressed in his debut, going 20/33 for 243 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions, but that’s to be expected for a young QB.

Jacksonville hasn’t lived up to their expectations, and their 35-16 loss last week to the Chicago Bears might have cost head coach Doug Pederson his job had the team not remained in London ahead of this week’s game.

The Jags and the Pats are two of the most offensively inept teams in the league, ranking 27th and 28th in third-down conversion percentage. Maye and Lawrence will likely throw an interception or two, stalling drives before they hit the red zone.

42.5 points is high, so give me the under in a game that may end with a final score of 20-10.

Houston Texans at Green Bay Packers -2.5

This game is a possible Super Bowl preview. I expect the Packers to start fast. They’re averaging 15 points in the first half, laying 24 on the Arizona Cardinals in last week’s opening frames.

The biggest mismatch here is the Green Bay rushing offense versus the Texans rushing defense—the Packers average 167.2 rushing yards per game, good for second in the league.

Houston will be without star WR Nico Collins, but RB Joe Mixon is back and had himself a week against the Patriots, rushing for 102 yards on 13 carries. Mixon will face a bigger challenge in a Packers run defense that ranks eighth in yards allowed per game.

The Packers are a better team right now. I’ll lay under the key number of three this week.

Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers -1.5

These are the two best teams in the league right now, despite the 49ers’ current 3-3 record. The Chiefs are undefeated and covered the spread in four of those games.

The Chiefs’ defense is still excellent but not as dominant as in 2023. In their last game against the New Orleans Saints, they did limit Alvin Kamara to only 26 yards on 11 carries. This 49ers rushing attack is a different animal, gaining an average of 158 yards per game.

The 49ers are also finding their stride. The offense dismantled the Seahawks last week, with Brock Purdy going 18/28 for 255 yards and 3 TDs. Deebo Samuel had a strong game, catching three passes for 102 yards and a TD.

I know the Chiefs are great off a bye, but the 49ers are the deeper team, and they’re getting hot. I’ll take the Niners laying under two points.
