Penguins Q&A Video: Power Play, Coaches, and the BIG Question

From Penguins trade to free agents, prospects and if the Core will stay without winning…

It did not take long for the Pittsburgh Penguins fans to accept the termination of associate coach Todd Reirden and double down on the Penguins’ problems.

From power play fixes to young prospects who might be ready for next season to trades and free agents. Penguins fans and PHN readers are ready for an aggressive offseason.

Whether or not president of hockey operations/GM Kyle Dubas is gearing up for the same is another question.

From the home studio, PHN’s Dan Kingerski had a lot of questions to get through; 25 rolled in within the first 20 minutes.

Kingerski began with Dubas’s firing of Reirden and the small list of coaches who could replace him (0-3:345), Penguins prospects Joel Blomqvist and Brayden Yager, and whether they’ll make the NHL roster next season (4:30).

A bit into the show, the heavy-duty questions arrived. Who is the most likely to get traded, Reilly Smith, Ryan Graves, or Rickard Rakell (8:50)? Which prospects have the best chance to arrive soon (10:17), a lack of chemistry between Evgeni Malkin, and Malkin’s declining performance (13;10), and three names Kingerski circled three big names who could fit with the Penguins (14:52).

And the biggest question that will hover around the Penguins next season, with big implications: If the team is out of the playoffs by the trade deadline next season, would Malkin and Kris Letang ask for a trade (18:53)?

Smith, Graves and Rakell.
If you can only trade two, Smith and Graves.
If you can only trade one, Graves.

Neither Malkin or Letang are going to ask for a trade. End of that discussion. Whether either will retire before their current contracts expire is another question. I would not be shocked if both DID or if neither did.

Feedback: Streamyard is fine; however, the wider shot captured some pretty annoying glare in the top two corners. Either lower the shot or tighten it up. Good Pens info, as always.
