Pittsburgh Penguins - Nashville Predators game in Sweden

If you’ve ever wanted to visit Sweden, you’ll have a great excuse next November as the Pittsburgh Penguins will play a pair of games against the Nashville Predators as part of the NHL’s Global Series.

The Penguins will play two regular season games at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. The first game is Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. CET (which is 2 p.m. Eastern time) and Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. CET (9 a.m. Eastern time). Both games are against Nashville, and it is the first time in 17 years the Penguins will play in Sweden.

Per the Penguins press release, Sidney Crosby said, “It’s cool. It’s a great experience for the team and for the fans, too, to see teams that they wouldn’t typically have the opportunity to see–along with some locals with Raks and (Erik Karlsson). It’s really nice.”

Erik Karlsson also commented per the team:

“Obviously, we have a lot of fans back home in Sweden, a lot of young kids who start playing hockey because of the NHL, and it’s easier to follow now, too. I think a lot of people do, through the Internet and all that. So, it’s nice to be able to give them a chance to see it live.”

The Penguins also began the 2008-09 campaign with an NHL Premiere Series against the Ottawa Senators in Stockholm. Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang were a part of that group, too.

The NHL and Live Nation will offer ticket presales on Tuesday, March 25, at 10 a.m. CET / 5 a.m. ET. Starting Wednesday, March 26, at 10 a.m. CET / 5 a.m. ET., tickets will go on sale to the public at livenation.se.

The title is misleading, I though that they were relegated to the SHL
