UPDATED: Bryan Rust Not on Road Trip With Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins, who are in Vancouver to begin a four-game western trip, practiced Monday without top-line right winger Bryan Rust, and coach Mike Sullivan told reporters afterward that the team is still awaiting word on the extent of Rust’s injury.
“(Rust) is at home right now; he did not make the trip with us,” Sullivan said. “He’s continuing to be evaluated.”
Rust left Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers in the third period with what the Penguins termed an upper-body injury. He appeared to shake his left hand as he rose from a collision, and immediately retreated down the player runway.
Earlier in the win, he had two goals an an assist.
The Penguins did not have a definitive update on Rust after the game, and Sullivan at that time was unsure whether Rust would accompany the team west. Sullivan said it is unclear whether Rust might be able to join the Penguins during their road trip.
“To be determined,” Sullivan said.
