The next general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins will have some pretty important decisions to make before the team convenes for training camp this fall.
For starters, the new GM will have to determine whether Tristan Jarry, who will be an unrestricted free agent, should be brought back as the go-to goaltender. And, if so, for how long.
Figuring out who is capable of working alongside — and fully complementing — Kris Letang on the No. 1 defense pairing will be key, too. Brian Dumoulin is the incumbent, but his contract is expiring and the hard miles on him started to show a few years ago.
Those are just a couple of the reasons that Ron Hextall’s successor will have to hit the ground not running, but sprinting.
