With two victories in their past three games, the Pittsburgh Penguins can breathe easy for a bit.

OK, that’s long enough.

The unvarnished truth is that even though the Penguins are closer to reclaiming the first wild card in the Eastern Conference playoff field than they are to sitting out the postseason, a few unfavorable results in coming days and weeks could result in a significant shuffling of the standings.
