Final Decisions: What We’re Hearing (and Not) on Penguins’ GM Search (+)

Pittsburgh Penguins, John Henry

Putting all of the pieces of the puzzle on the table, I find myself missing a few corner pieces. The Pittsburgh Penguins’ search for front-office personnel is in its final days. Yesterday, Fenway Sports Group made several calls to candidates, including at least one not yet reported, to inform them they were out of the running.

PHN reported Dan MacKinnon was out. Pierre LeBrun reported Eric Tulsky got the same call.

Candidates for the president of hockey operations post, including Marc Bergevin, also got the call a few days ago. It seems FSG stealthily kept a few names back; one asked not to be named.

Though seldom mentioned, Tampa Bay assistant GM Mathieu Darche remains a candidate. He, Steve Greeley, John Chayka, and Kyle Dubas are the last candidates standing. And this is where the conflicting information begins.
