CRANBERRY — Injured Pittsburgh Penguins center Teddy Blueger was back on the ice at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex Monday morning.

He took part in a small-group workout with three other players who have been injured: Forwards Jeff Carter and Jonathan Gruden and defenseman Taylor Fedun.

Skills coach Ty Hennes oversaw the session.

Teddy Blueger’s return got off to a rather auspicious start, as he lost his balance and fell during a close-quarters drill at center ice. He quickly got back to his feet, however, and did not appear to be affected by taking that tumble.

None of the players showed any indication of being affected by their injuries, which have not been specified, although it’s worth noting that there was no contact. Carter subsequently participated in the Penguins’ game-day skate, albeit in a no-contact jersey.
