Things aren’t going swimmingly for the Pittsburgh Penguins after three straight losses, and Monday at the team’s morning skate the defense still seemed to be in disarray.

Defensemen Jeff Petry, Jan Rutta and Marcus Pettersson were not on the ice. Fill-in Mark Friedman, an emergency call-up, skated. It appeared that Taylor Fedun was on the ice briefly at the start, including a turn with Friedman, then left. There has been no official word on Fedun being added to the roster.

Petry and Rutta did not play in Saturday’s 6-0 loss to the Rangers in New York. Pettersson left that game.

Petry took an elbow to the face from the Rangers’ Tyler Motte on Thursday. There has been no update on the reason Rutta was out of the lineup Saturday.

With a day off Sunday, the Pittsburgh Penguins held a full, rather than optional, morning skate.
