Penguins Return Mark Friedman to Wilkes-Barre

Pittsburgh Penguins, NHL trade, Mark Friedman

The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Mark Friedman to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.

He had been recalled after defensemen P.O Joseph and Jan Rutta were injured during their 4-1 victory in Washington last Wednesday, but did not get into either of the two games that followed.

Rutta dressed for the games in Toronto and Montreal and Chad Ruhwedel, who has been their seventh defenseman since the start of the season, filled in for Joseph.

Friedman has two assists in 10 games with Wilkes-Barre this season.

For a team with very little “sandpaper” as you like to call it, unless Freidman is a much worse player than he appears not keeping him around seems like a mistake
