NHL rumors, Nazem Kadri to New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins questions

A few of you caught my hints, subtle and less than subtle, over the past week. The NHL rumors finally broke on Sunday that the New York Islanders and UFA Nazem Kadri may have reached an agreement, but the Islanders must first clear space. However, none of the info is yet first-hand, so there remains a question mark. Sportsnet examined the top-10 remaining RFAs, the Bruins reunion tour, re-examining Tyler Bertuzzi’s contract, and our Penguins one-timers looked at unsigned UFAs and the contract comparisons.

Is it already Aug. 1? Where did the summer go? I think it’s time to disappear on the bike for a few days. Maybe back to Titusville for a $3.50 breakfast and down Rt. 6 to Rt. 15 and Gettysburg? Maybe I’ll just follow a trail of chrome diners, hot roast beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes, and wood-paneled bars.

I’m always open to a few suggestions, too.

NHL Rumors, News, & National Hockey Now

NYI Hockey Now: The NHL rumor mill has been quietly bubbling. It couldn’t be reported because no one had it firm. The parties are on lockdown, but it’s finally leaking out (just remember who was hinting at it early last week). It sounds like it’s a deal — Nazem Kadri to the New York Islanders.

Sportsnet: The news and NHL rumors on the top 10 RFAs. Could we see an offer sheet or two?

Vegas: Let’s compare the inaugural seasons of the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights.

Detroit: It’s been a year since Tyler Bertuzzi signed his two-year bridge deal. He can sign a long-term deal this summer…or become a free agent next summer. Hmmm. Detroit Red Wings news.

Vancouver Hockey Now: As Rob Simpson writes, the World Juniors resumes in a week, but the sexual assault investigations have cast a pall over the event. Hockey Canada trouble.

Montreal: Sidney Crosby isn’t the only superstitious hockey player. Nick Suzuki structured his new contract in a goofy manner to honor his numerology. $4,000,014. Full story — Montreal Canadiens coverage.

Boston: As Jimmy Murphy writes, hey, if GM Don Sweeney has the 2011 band together for one more go, they might as well go all out and bring back Milan Lucic, too. Boston Bruins opinion.
